About Us
In 2005 we started a different kind of firm,
taking a new approach to family law:
Built with compassion, trust and the belief that the best way to put our clients’ needs first, was to understand their lives, goals and what they envisioned for their future.
After 20 years of staying true to that vision and giving our clients honest, straightforward and sound advice, we now have six attorneys and have become one of the largest and most respected family law firms in central New Jersey.
We are a highly motivated and talented team that knows its way around a courtroom and nuances of New Jersey law.
Experience Matters
New Jersey family law is in constant flux. It is continually being developed by decided-case after decided-case, and sometimes overhauled entirely by major New Jersey statute revisions.
In our firm’s tenure, the alimony statute has been revised and reinterpreted multiple times. Legal protections against domestic violence have increased. Developing methods for valuing small businesses have sharpened the conflict around pay-outs between spouses. Tax law has changed. College tuition costs have risen, and what used to seem like a simple calculation for child support is now far more complex.
We’ve seen all of this and more. Fortunately we have the experience to deal with the curve balls when they come and are always up to date on the latest developments in the law.
Our Cumulative Experience
provides us with the critical opportunity to assess and communicate the right strategic path for our clients. We know the easy way. We know the hard way.
What we want to know, is what’s right for you.
After years of litigation and negotiation experience, the partners Mia Cahill, Esq. and Elizabeth Smith, Esq. are well known for encouraging “uncontested” divorces and collaborative approaches when that’s right for the client. Grace Dennigan, Esq., who now focuses on mediation full-time, paved the approach of “Divorcing with Grace.” Nicole Huckerby, Esq., an exceptional appeals-writer and seasoned litigator,
has been innovative in her approach to seniors divorcing—working to preserve assets, and engendering her client’s confidence. As litigators, Kathryn Lyons, Esq., and Jillian Kalyan, Esq. regularly protect our clients in court with their particular firebrand made of excellent legal skills, knowledge and vigor. Our legal team is excellent, and together, Dennigan Cahill Smith, LLC is a formidable force in any court or conference room.
But there’s something special about looking a client in the eye when talking with them about the most sensitive and important things in their life. We hold consultations and settlement conferences in our offices regularly.
We have a real office, with real attorneys, all working in Central New Jersey. We have real phones, and always return client calls. It sounds simple, but we know it’s about you.
Our region now struggles with the “judge shortage,” in several counties, and getting our clients the court time they deserve is something we are always fighting for. When needed (and when it’s preferred by a client) we can engage in remote communications. It can save time and money.
